Owano Pennycooke, MD
Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon | Global Health & Health Equity Advocate
Dr. Owano Pennycooke is a board-certified vascular and endovascular surgeon committed to expanding healthcare access through clinical excellence and meaningful partnerships. He practices in the New York metro area and Atlanta, Georgia. His expertise includes dialysis access surgery, limb preservation, and the treatment of complex arterial and venous disease.
Dr. Pennycooke is the founder of AccessMed Global, an initiative that connects specialist expertise, technology, and local clinical leadership to build sustainable pathways to care in underserved communities and across the Afro-Caribbean diaspora. Through global health partnerships, he provides dialysis access surgery, supports surgical training, and strengthens continuity of care beyond short-term medical missions.
His broader vision brings healthcare organizations, trusted community institutions, and business partners into a shared effort to address barriers to treatment, including transportation, care coordination, and affordability. Drawing on a vascular surgeon’s understanding of circulation, he approaches health equity with a guiding principle: resources must not simply exist; they must reach the people who need them.
As founder of Access Med Global, Dr. Pennycooke brings his clinical experience and health-equity perspective to the organization’s Treat, Train and Track approach: connecting physicians and local care partners, strengthening workforce capacity, and supporting continuity of care and measurable outcomes. His goal is to build partnerships that move beyond isolated interventions toward lasting access, stronger local capacity, and generational health.
